For this example your account needs access to the Mapgrove World Countries map. See Prices/Shop for more details.
Often, there are multiple ways to reach the same goal. For creating a map of the world with some countries colored in (in this example the USA and Iran), we will explain two options:
- Single layer, using range-coloring
- Two layers
Single layer, using range-coloring
- Select the basemap “World – Countries (2014)” (purchased from the Map Shop)
- From the “draw features”-tab de-select “Antarctica” by scrolling and clicking on it in Column A
- From the “thematic”-tab select United States and Iran by scrolling and clicking to select it
- Select “range(s)” from the pulldown menu as the method for coloring
- Select the preferred color in the range and click “apply”
Optionally, to change the map colors, select gray as the fill color and white as the line color in the “draw features”-tab.
Two layers
The same result can be reached by using two layers:
- Select the basemap “World – Countries (2014)”
- From the “draw features”-tab de-select “Antarctica” by scrolling and clicking on it in Column A
- Click “add layer” in the top bar
- Select the basemap “World – Countries (2014)” (yes, again!)
- From the “draw features”-tab de-select all countries by clicking “A” (Column A) and select “United States” and “Iran”
- Select the preferred fill color (bucket) from the “draw features”-tab
The map can be downloaded by clicking the “download png” (bitmap) or “download pdf” (vector) icon.
